The Competition -
Invited international competition developed in cooperation with danish architecture firm Site A/S.
The competition called for a facade solution for the 190m x 50m x 30m incinerator plant near Roskilde in Denmark
The concept is to wrap the incinerator in a esthetic steel folded 'wrapping paper' that functions as both reflector of sunlight as well a heat radiating device.
Dynamic cycle -
The facades express the dynamic flow that takes place inside the building, where material substance is transposed into heat, slack, and vapour cleaned from all toxics. The result is that only pure water-vapour moves up through the stack and into the sky, eventually forming the very clouds that, on their turn, influence the appearance of the facade while they drift over the building and interrupt the sunlight, and so are part of the cycle that create a continuous updated 'living painting'.
